The original Volvo screen in the C70 is also marked with Pilkington along with Volvo. The original screen in the V40 is marked with Volvo and Saint Gobain.
'er indoors Mini Cooper is marked with the 'Mini' logo and Saint Gobain.

In 49 years of car ownership, every vehicle I have owned - excluding the current ones - has had a replacement screen fitted at some time, including the Rolls. Never had any issues with a replacement screen - all fitted at screen specialists and always at their premises. I would never agree to a mobile fitter, given that the conditions are not ideal.

Maybe I'm just imaging it, but the NordGlass replacement screen seems to get more fogged up for longer during the winter.

Mine had new glass before I bought it, it was indeed a Pilk glass as well, never got the chance to see how it was in winter, didn't even test it for clearing and heating.

ITSv40:~
Your last post jogged my memory, the installer also gave the option of
a home call or depot (Screen had to be ordered, but they knew that and had been spot on with the delivery date)
Otherwise straight forward as previously mentioned- just worth reviewing the options I think.
Regards Bob.

Last time I had a screen replaced I used a local firm (largely because I was paying for it myself), the big chains wanted silly money for it probably because they can get away with fleecing the insurers, And the number of stories I had seen at the time of problems gave me the impression it was rather like buying tyres- the big names have some good advertising but the staff just want to upsell you to earn commission, do a bodge job, then get you back out of the door as quick as possible. The local guy seemed to actually know what he was doing and was about half the price (paid by card with a proper receipt & VAT, not a dodgy cash deal).

Default ..Thanks for the comments...

Having read all the comments, I have to say my position has moved, inthat I'm more inclined to sit pat, at least until December(MOT) The crack is not in my eye line, is not distracting ( especially as I have removed the chalk used to highlight it in photo) and I currently have no other issues ( leaks/rust) with the current glass. This I feel is not 100% guaranteed with a replacement.
That said the crack could suddenly get bigger and then I'd have to jump. Additionally, being with out the car for a time would not be an issue, as I also run a knackered Jazz which could be pressed into additional service rather than just the 5 mile local stuff.

Cheers
Bob

Default update....

..well the car has returned from the MOT station with a clean bill of health. Only advisory was scored/pitted OSF disc, which when I get chance to give the car a good run will no doubt clean up.
Have to say crack has not expanded. Even the twisting moments involved in changing the car onto its winter tyres did not cause the cracks to extend. However, now the car lives outside the cold nights might be an increasing factor in failure. Have to add that I'd forgotten about the crack until after I'd dropped off the car, and I was going through in my mind possible failures ( as you do)

Cheers Bob

That's good Bob but it could've gone south on you as if they had advised on it you may have been declined a screen claim in the future.

Had a fairly long crack in the lower OS corner on my old screen, outside the swept area for about 6-7 years. Only the extreme cold we had in 2018 caused it to grow.

Also had another crack near that one, 9.5mm long and within the drivers eyeline, that was always an advisory for nearly 10 years.

Claimed on insurance, no problem.

I should have pushed or paid extra for an original screen, this NordGlass one is not that great.

If you have insurance, then you must contact the company because as per the shared image, it will not be fixed by repair.
