I have the D4. Short, local trips give an average of about 37 mpg, but this easily rises to the mid 40’s on anything over 10 miles and will it top 50 mpg if the journey is 30 miles or more. I can’t comment on how these figures compare with a D5.
I tow a 1450 Kg caravan without any problems whatsoever, and find it to be an excellent tow car in every way. Fuel consumption when towing varies according to traffic conditions and headwinds, but seems to average around about 28 mpg; I saw over 30 on a recent journey home in good weather, but a long tow back from The Cotswolds on a windy day last year saw it drop to only 24.
What I did notice was what a big difference buying a wider caravan has made; a couple of years ago we changed our old 7’ wide Bailey for a 7’6” Lunar, and it was immediately obvious how much more drag there was with the bigger van, with a corresponding rise in fuel consumption.

In our B4 on a run, which was 348 miles to Glasgow I managed 70.3mpg

Mostly motorway and I was driving like miss daisy

Around town it’s not brilliant with late 30s

Towing to France this year we got only 23mpg, 1788 round trip, towing a twin axle 1560kg van, roof bars with bikes on. Towing at largely 110kph where permitted

Wonderful tow car

hi all, greetings from Türkiye.
I hope i'm writing in right place. Already have a new brand 3.20 LCI BMW about 13k KM and now i'm full focus to buy a used V90CC Model 2020s.

in Turkiye, we have only D5 and B5 models. But after searcing the differences btw d5 n B5, ı'm little bit confused to take D5 model however it's more cheaper around 6000-7000 GBP.

I would like to hear your suggestions;
ıs it sensible to go for V90 CC / passing from BMW 2022 3.20 ?
is it sensible to get D5 with the Power Pulse issues ?

and last question;
i actually do not find critical issues about B5. Should i go for B5 in stead of D5 with paying over 6000 GBP

Thanks for the replies in first place.

B5 will be a better option, it is the newer mild Hybrid car which uses an electric motor to provide a bit more boost, the D5 has the old Power Pulse compressed air boost system which can be problematic.
