S40 DPF problems
Hello guys,
I am a new user to this site. I registered as I was having problems with my 2005(55) s40 2.0d S. It kept going into limp home mode due to fault codes on my dpf, I think it was 2052, 2053(DPF pressure sensor error+DPF error circuit). After reading several posts about the whole DPF issue I concluded that it would cost £300 for a new filter, £105 for new sensor, £85 for new pipe kit all plus labour. Then I stumbled accross a thread that mentioned all of the above may not cure my problem! I then came accross a thread that mentioned DPF romoval. After several weeks research I found a company in Newcastle(TDperformance) who would remove the DPF software for £300 and for an extra £49 would throw in a performance upgrade on the ecu. I eventually took the plunge and removed my ecu and took it to them and I aint looked back since! All I had to do was remove my DPF filter and drill out the filter element. Not once since have I had a problem, and the performance and mpg have massively increased(not both together though!). I would strongly reccomend anyone having similar problems to do the same. Also I would highly reccomend the guys at TD performance for their service. They reckon its increased by roughly 30BHP. I actually wasn't interested in a power increase, just to get rid of the problems, but now I have it it's awesome! Any questions please ask! Cheers, Colin. |

I would be concerned that this modification would invalidate your insurance, and will lead to an MOT fail.

DPF removal is no problem when it comes to MOT time (the car will still pass a smoke test unless the remap causes smoke) and of course all modifications should be stated to an insurer, no matter how small

I thought the requirement was for all original emissions equipment to be intact and working to pass the MOT test (seems to be what "Honest John" advises, too).
