Sorry, incorrect mileage stated in my previous post. I actually did all that at 130,000 miles - now on 145,000 miles + and running sweetly. Luckily no throttle issues like yours - yet! Haven't cleaned out my throttle body, so will perhaps look at that this summer.

Then new drop links (Lemförder). Also added R-Design front strut brace (V60 one is identical to V70, but far more common), which made far more of a difference than I expected - particularly on fast, twisty roads, with virtually no "shake" as the suspension loads up.

Much improved handling and ride afterwards (despite lower height). Still crashed into potholes at the rear, so then replaced rear trailing arm bushes and that has sorted that issue. Really handles well now - though I am now dithering over an uprated rear anti roll bar...
Just refreshing the rear suspension on my 2011 XC70 D3. 143k and on originals I think! Weepy shock on driver's side...suspect the other is on borrowed time. Car has become a bit more "bouncy and floaty" than usual. Also "bangs" a bit over small holes on the road (but no creaking or knocking). I'm hopeful that new rear shocks will improve things, but have a feeling front struts could do with replacing! Along with trailing arm bushes!

The rear suspension banging was definitely a sign of my trailing arm bushes going - when I changed it one had completely separated from the metal...

Wow. That's "properly gone"! Didn't think they were actually capable of failing to that extent! Thanks for sharing pic. At least replacements are reasonably priced from what I can see. My car goes into Volvo tomorrow for rear shocks. I'll ensure they take pics of the bushes whilst they're underneath. Just out of curiosity, as they're in quite an exposed location, was it/were they tricky to remove? Just asking for a friend...!

I did them myself, on the drive, using one of the "new" removal tools (just over £100, but I then sold it on for £70). It was definitely possible to do as a DIYer and I would be much faster next time, but I reckon it's a one day job for both sides if all goes well. Lining it all up for refitting is the tricky bit - and ensuring you lift the car high enough to get the arm to drop down far enough to be below the sill. I wrote more about this - with photos - a few months ago... will try and find the link

I parked between two XC70s yesterday - they looked like they were on stilts next to my car... :-)

I think that's why XC70 owners buy them.

However, coming from driving V6 2+2 coupes for the previous 15 years, I was more than pleasantly surprised to find that high speed cornering on my favourite dual carriageway bend at full speed was as effortless in the tank as it had been in my low slung sports cars.
