Default HELP-850 steering column UJ

The bottom u/j on my 850 is badly worn:-2 problems-even Volvo don't have any left, and the only ones out here on the net are for LHD cars-are they the same?

And-the clamp bolt is well and truly stuck in the clamp-wd40, heat and lump hammer won't shift it !Before I cut the clamp apart-which looks like a sod of a job-has any one any suggestions?

Are the same for sure. U join should move up to cabin. Did you unscrew both side join?

If it helps?...

Although you say bottom of steering column which side of the bulkhead are you talking?

The joint inside the cabin at the bottom has the same part number for LHD or RHD

But the one the other side of the bulkhead into the rack has two separate numbers so i expect there could be a difference.

The V70 `97 model has a again a different number!!

Thanks for the replies guys-It's the u/j under the floor that sits on the rack stem-need double jointed arms to get at it.I've sourced another from breaker's ,so I think it will be out with hacksaw! At least the clamp block is ally.

Default Update

It's taken all day to cut out one end of the bolt using a metal cutting blade on a Stanley knife-only thing I could get in:Sod's Law means it's the other half that's stuck!

Default Victory!

Managed to cut enough of the clamp away to unscrew the bolt.YES-unscrew-the ally had corroded(and presumably swollen) to form a perfect thread around the bolt.No wonder my local garage wanted 5 hours to do the job!
