A quality restoration like that was always going to make top money - not that I have any idea of the pre-war market - as there is always someone prepared to pay for perfection. There is of course the engine issue to sort, so still a little venturing into the unknown. As always, if it was meant to be it would have sold at a price you were comfortable in paying.

Yep! I’d go along with that!

The heart wants, as they say!🧐

Update on my son's car sale:

He put it on an online platform - one that discourages prior viewing -to avoid the tyre kickers. He doesn't have any patience when dealing with timewasters/idiots etc and avoids the likes of ebay facebook etc.

The auction ended and the hammer price was £7300. He was pleased with that as he hoped it would fetch above £5000. Buyer collected today and was very pleased with it, although admitted he got carried away and paid more than he really wanted - where have we heard that before? The car has now gone to live in Southend which is it's natural habitat and no doubt will be seen cruising along the front.

All in all son is happy with the result, particularly as it was hassle free.

Was that the escort convertible? It wasn’t really my cup of tea, but looked nice and had been restored well. That sounds like a good price to me; it was the very best time of year to sell a soft top.
