XC90 20" to 22" Alloys
Chaps,
I have a brand new R Design being delivered in a couple weeks with standard 20" alloy wheels fitted and I have purchased a spare set of 22" five spokes which I want to use in the warmer summer months. Could anyone confirm if the wheel studs are the same size for both wheel sizes. Many thanks Wes |

Congrats on the new xc90. I presume you have bought the 22" wheels from the dealer, therefore should be no problems with the fit. But I would add you may live to regret it. My previous 90 had 19" rims, went for 21" with a lower profile tyre, running over a matchstick loosened my fillings. Best of luck

Cheers for this.
I did not purchase from a dealer but they are the genuine part with numbers etc... Wes |

In theory should be no problem with the fit, but trust me, unless you are driving on a snooker table surface you will feel every crack in the road. And with the road conditions in my neck of the woods, I'm thinking of fitting BF Goodrich all terrains

Even a step from 19s to 20s is noticeable. I had a Momentum loaner on 19s and I couldn’t believe how much harder the ride was when I got back in my Inscription running on 20s
I think there’s a balance between style and comfort and it’s down to your preferenxs

I was unsure about my 20s moving from the 18" on the Merc, however with the right tyre pressure I find the ride surprisingly good. It must've been the air suspension

Definitely concur with this. The courtesy car I've got at the minute has steel springs and 20" wheels. The ride seems no softer than my car with its air suspension and 22"s.

I had the same fear when I ordered my XC90 R Design 5 months ago. Finally I decided and it was delivered with 21"
It has air suspension, and I must say, the ride is very comfortable. I'll attach some pictures, they are the 21" Matt Black/Diamond Cut (option 1041) Also check the wrapping of the chrome parts :-)

Who did the wrapping? Looks awesome! Was it grill and window surrounds? Did they do the mirrors too? How much was it?
I’m very keen to get my Bursting Blue S90 R Design done too. I’m not a fan of the chrome bits. Looks out of place.... |

Hi, it was a company in Belgium...
grill, window surroundings and roof rails. The roof rails were the most expensive parts ... In total: around 700 euro excl VAT But I get many positive reactions, it's really worth it, thx for the comment :-) Ah, and the mirrors where painted before delivery ... or clicked on ... they are available in black too ...
