Default Oil in induction pipes

When I removed the lower intercooler hose on my S40 D4192 T3 to access the timing plug, about 2-3cc of engine oil ran down my sleeve! The whole induction tract was wet with oil, and there has been a slight, but messy, oil leak from the inlet manifold for about a year or so.

After a sleepless night, trying to decide whether to feed the family or buy a new turbo (and get oil off the pillow), I took off the pipe between the air filter and turbo. This was wet with oil from the entry point of the crankcase breather hose! No play in the turbo bearings, and it seemed to spin freely and quietly (by hand).

Now, with the cam belt back on, I have revved the engine with the hose disconnected from the crankcase oil seperator and nothing comes out (no oil or smoke, anyway).

Any suggestions as to why oil is getting into the induction *before* the turbo? This is a 57k engine and I have never needed to top up the oil between (6k) changes.

Thanks,

Bill
