After numerous attempts to resolve my problem without success, my dealer proposed I should bring it in again and they would send it away to let Volvo UK Techs look at it. They (the Techs) diagnosed the problem as a sticking valve in the Intercooler. The Sevice Manager told me that it wasn't covered in the warranty (which ran out in April) and a new one would cost $700-£800 plus labour. As a pensioner there was no way I could afford that. They suggested an alternative, which was to have a used one off them which was out of a car which had a cracked engine. They told me the boss said he would meet me half way, I would pay for the labour, to which I agreed. I picked up the car yesterday and oh my God, it's like driving a new car. It's brilliant.
They never charged me a penny for all the prevous work they had done on it. I am going to name the dealer, it's the least I can do. It's Drayton Motors of Clatterbridge Wirral. The owners are two cousins Rob and Justin Taylor. The Service Manager is Matthew, very courteous and most polite.

outnumbered, sorry, I gave wrong information. After reading my invoice, it was the Turbo, which I believe is attached to the Intercooler. I came out in a cold sweat there for a while.

So it's the same thing I had in my car. Sticking vanes or governor arm in the turbo
