Hi KeithR56 and thanks for taking an interest in the post.

I have had any number of mp3 players over the years and they've all worked very easily and quite frankly when this one didn't I first of all wondered what on earth I'd done!

If you ever do find an answer please re-post.

I have emailed Volvo with my query but I'm not holding my breath for a reply...

BTW my studio pal just says 'it's just c***p, sell the car'.

Sorry I haven't been back to you as I'm scaling it back here now.


I can only say how I got round it, its also a different system to the one I had as mine was Sensus rather than Google, you're right it's really poor that it doesn't just organise properly and Volvo don't seem to have any interest in fixing it as this gripe has been going on since 2016 that I can remember.

My way of doing it was as refined as I could get it and I can't think of anything other than the total replacement of the media player code that will enable it to read and index properly.

Show your mate what I suggested, he may be an engineer but this is above where he will find himself tasked without a toolkit in a way.

I found a very simple solution; I deleted any compilation albums from by USB stick. Sorted.
