Question V70 Handbrake

I have a 2005 V70R manual and the handbrake seems to sit high, it also gets in the way of reverse. Is this a design fault or does my handbrake need adjusting?

If you pull up the gaiter that is around the handbrake handle, you should see the adjuster with a nut on top of it.I think that there is a spring clip to keep the adjuster from altering itself, but you should be able to tighten the nut no prolem.I,ve just done mine on my v70 d5,so i should think your R should be the same. Hope this helps.
