164 front discs
I have a new pair of front discs to suit a Volvo 164 that I bought as suitable for a 145, but trust me, they aren't!!
They are made by ABS (All Brake Systems) part number 15913 and are still boxed but one has been fitted to the front hub of my 145 for a week so has some very light surface rust as pictured. They have not been used at all though, only trial fitted! I would like £25 for the pair plus postage (they cost me £45 plus postage) and as they weigh in at approx 13kg the postage will be £23.14 by Parcelforce but collection is of course welcomed!

Hummmm, may be interested, not sure these fit mine though.
There was a change from solid to ventilated discs on 164s at some point. The stud pattern looks volvoesque. How did you find out they were for the 164?

They fit the hubs on my 145 fine, but there is about 1mm of difference on the "inset" and they are 1mm thicker than what should be fitted to my 145.
I Googled the make and part number stamped into the discs and Volvo 164 is the listed fitment for them. Hope this helps?

Jimmy, as your 164 is about the same age as my blue one I'd check to see if your front discs are ventilated, like mine. If so the calipers would be wider so solid discs would be too thin for your set-up.

Normally the carb 164 has solid discs and the faster 164E has ventilated discs.
They might have standardised vented near the end of production, I'm not sure, but certainly for several years both types of discs were offered, depending on engine power. Nearly 30 years ago, I converted my first 164, a 1969 model, from solid to vented discs. It was very 'vigorously' driven, and I used to get a lot of noise and brake fade on the solid discs - completely cured when I fitted the 164E brakes. John |

Vented! Which may explain why I've never had so much as a pipsqueak from my brakes. Maybe these discs are for another variety of Volvo altogether, or they're rear discs.

They are front discs for sure as the rears would be machined for the handbrake shoes.
These measure 272mm diameter and are 14.4mm thick and are listed for Volvo 164's from 1968-74 but no mention of caliper type (Girling or ATE). Hope this helps?

Looks like they are for early 164s then. Perhaps they went over to vented front discs when the car was face-lifted in '72. Best to put them on ebay I guess.
