XC60 Towbar
I have been thinking about having a towbar fitted to my XC60 and checked theaccessories list on the Volvo website to see that a price of GBP662.40 for the removable towbar, fitted with 13 pin electrics. Two local dealers have quoted significantly over this price, one at GBP750 and the other at GBP690 - and neither recognise the VOC 15% discount as described on the website - one says he may give 10%, the other nothing.
I have several questions for the assembled knowledge a) has anyone had a towbar fitted by Volvo, if so how much did you pay? b) has anyone had an aftermarket installed, if so what did you pay? c) Volvo say that the warranty is invalidated if you have an aftermarket fitted - is this true? d) when buying accessories what has been the reaction to asking for VoC discount? Many thanks for all the answers on other subjects, I hope that this question will prove that I am not barking mad and these dealers are turning into stealers Iain |

I have the same questions, and would welcome the answers.
I have already been quoted £380 for a detachable Westfalia with 13pin electrics, by Towequipe. Anybody know of anything cheaper? I also would like to see any pics of similar installs, I have the R-design model, so have the silver lower centre bumper trim, was hoping that a panel would clip out when you want to use the towbar and then hide everything when its in place, (this is how my previous q7 worked). But all I have been told is that the bumper will need to be cut, :-( its only a week old!!!!! |

My XC60 came with a removable towbar, but no cover! Have bought one from a Volvo dealer but it is far from a perfect fit. Or I'm not fitting it correctly! Have used the towbar to pull a Loadlugger type box trailer for house removals and all went well. I'm impressed by the towing system. Reversing with the trailer attached into and out of driveways was quite challenging.

PF Jones has some good discounts at present (XC60 detachable for less than £200) looking to buy the electrics from Volvo, unless I can find 'as good' cheaper online and thinking fitting is not beyond my capabilities. Kenn |

I found this. Not sure if it is as comprehensive as what you had. Kenn |
