Default 940 lpt new turbo

Hi, I need to source a new turbo for my 1995 2.3 lpt.
Does anyone on these forums have advice about buying a refurbed exchange one on eBay?
They come from Latvia, and are £530-ish, which is half the price of any new ones I can find.
Other than that, I might find sourcing a new one difficult and expensive.
Thanks.

No experience with refurbed turbos from Latvia, but I would just buy a new core from Melett here in the UK.

Heck, you could buy new turbine and comp housings separate and it would still come out much cheaper than £530!

Alternatively I have a 13c core and compressor housing I could sell you for £60 posted. Not used it myself although the shaft spins freely and no excess play, it came with a manifold I bought.

If you can stand having your car off the road for a bit, it might be worth getting yours reconditioned.

I can recommend AET Turbos in Yorkshire - I audited them a number of times back in the 90's and they did (maybe still do?) the turbo reconditioning for Mercedes for example - so if you get a Mercedes 'manufacturer reconditioned' unit, its one of theirs that you get. They can also do subtle mods such as uprated pressure actuators etc.

They also offer a same day exchange service if like for like is required. Just a thought.
