I did nearly 400 miles this weekend in mine, down to the Kent coast and back.

Sitting at 70 where possible on motorways, I was astonished to calculate 51.9MPG having brimmed the tank.

Perhaps there was (finally) a small Brexit dividend from the miles of 50mph limits in Kent!

Don’t those engines sound lovely on tick over after a really good run?😀

Did a ten hour round trip from Dorset to east Suffolk and back in my derv at the weekend. Full to the brim with tools and karting equipment and with a Tow-A-Van trailer behind it similarly full, plus my teammate and I onboard and a roofbox on top. Pulled like a train and didn’t miss a beat.

Clutch slave cylinder is leaking (replacement en route!) so had to bleed that after parking overnight at the track, but other than that it was a flawless trip.

I love these cars. Rewarding to own and lovely to drive. Super characterful.

740s and 760 diesels,I remember, not 960s. Mine was a 940 turbo inter cooler.

Maybe I’m wrong.🤔

Still brilliant!👍

Don't quote me on it but I'm sure they did the mk1 960 as a diesel for European markets.
