Default 2006 XC90 56 plate 127k miles

Time for our much loved family car to find a new home :-)

THE BASICS HY56 KBK

Volvo XC90 SE D5 Auto Sep 2006, 127k miles on 56 plate. Shadow Blue Metallic paint (480) with grey leather trim. Heated seats, driver and passenger electric seats, 6 disc CD changer, privacy windows, side rails, 7 seats. No dogs or smokers ever in the car, to my knowledge.

REASON FOR SALE

I’ve recently bought a 2011 XC90 R-Design in white and so having 2 of these babies on the drive is a bit excessive. I’ll be sad to see it go but the new owner will be getting a well-loved and maintained clean solid car. (Also ULEZ issues in parts of London).

THE 4 OWNERS

I’ve had the car for 4 years and bought it from a family friend who had it the previous 7 years. 2 owners prior to that. We have done multiple trips to Cornwall (from London), Wales and Scotland without missing a beat. Very reliable workhorse family car.

THE MILEAGE and MOT

127000 on the clock so around 8000 average annual mileage. MOT until late January 2023. I can also supply a full HPI check from CarVertical – it’s a 12 page PDF that cost me £12 quid and says “nothing to see here”

PRICE

I'm open to offers on this - would hope for something beginning with a 3 but will listen to high 2's.

THE SERVICE HISTORY

Combination of early main dealer service history and specialists. There is a total of about 12 service stamps in the original service book.

Recently I’ve replaced the windscreen, both front tyres and brakes (pads and discs), the battery and the alternator. The gearbox has been professionally checked and serviced with fluid replaced. Air, fuel and oil filter and fluids (including power steering fluid) replaced recently as well. Aircon regassed by KwikFit.

NOW FOR THE TRICKY PART

There’s been an intermittent warning lamp come on over the last year or so indicating an anti-skid problem, which I have not seen the need to fix. Various mechanics have told me it can be a bit of a nightmare without a certain resolution, and so far it hasn’t affected how the car behaves.

Secondly, the dreaded swirl flap and DPF issue. On advice I’ve had the DPF professionally drilled out with the necessary engine remapping done. The DPF and catalyst are externally intact and so will pass a visual inspection. The upside is the car is fast and responsive. You can actually see/feel the front of the car lifting if you floor it! The downside is that there is an engine warning lamp permanently on (so what?) and because of the swirl flap issue the car intermittently has a bit of a limp mode holiday so as not to have a nervous breakdown I assume . If you can live with that then perfect, otherwise if you have the appetite for a better solution then be my guest.

THE INTERIOR

All original equipment is working. There is one illumination lamp out behind the fan controls. All the seats adjust properly and have no cracks or splits in the leather. The carpets and trim are all in good condition with reasonable wear as you would expect.

THE BODYWORK and WHEELS

All good here as well. Some minor scratches obviously but nothing to be concerned about. I recently had a few panels professionally painted so the car looks great, although I am biased!

Wheels are OE 18” alloy 12 spokes with 235/60 tyres. No major damage but usual scratches and chips. Front tyres very recent.
