When you press the button - do you get a flashing red LED and a beep? If not check the fuse. If so the ECU is stopping the roof operation which can be down to a number of common reasons or a system fault (microswitch etc).

- Check the boot lid is closed and switch working (does the boot light go out?)

- Check handbrake switch - do you get a handbrake light on the dash when it's on?

- Check rear heated window is off

- Probably obvious but car must be < 4 kmph

You can read the fault codes and the sensor/switch status from the roof ECU with VIDA but to do any programming or re-caliberation the old Volvo Scan Tool needs to be used. And indie may not have this, you should check first as it is pretty much essential if programming is required.
Yep I tried all that.

You can manually open or close the roof. Open the boot and you will see the slots to use the tools. If you have your manual it explains how to do this, if not go online to find it. The hand tool to do this is a bit slow, but if you have a drill driver with the correct bit you can speed it up, just make sure you use the unlock tool first.

Let us know how you get on.

I just spoke to a friend and he paid £70 just for 1 micro switch, kind of expensive.
I'm having similar problem with my 2003 Mk1. Roof won't close properly. I can pull it down manually but won't slot in and can't use the manual tools because can't get into the boot. It seems sensors might be the problem but apparently there is six of them. Beautiful weather and can't use the car!
