C30 Stereo upgrade to Performance head unit?
I love my C30 but the person who ordered it ordered it with Bluetooth but didn't upgrade to High Performance sound so I have no Aux.
Seems this is a common problem! What I need to know is can I just swap the head unit to the High Performance sound unit and get Vida plugged in and tell the car it has a Performance head unit? (I know I will need the aux cabling etc as well but I'm sure I can get that from a breakers). I've searched and searched but haven't been able find the info on whether the wiring loom is the same between the standard single CD head unit I have and the Performance single CD head unit. And how it is plugged in so you get bluetooth and aux. I tried speaking to my local Volvo specialist but they didn't seem to know, they just said they could turn off some security feature in Vida. But they didn't really answer the question if the wiring was the same and if it could be enabled in the software so the car recognises it. Any help much appreciated. |

best (cheapest) option is a FM transmitter to get aux next is "replace the car With the stero system you want" forget taking bits from and putting in and hooking up and it working firstly you would need MOST - OFF ,, main dealer only then you Can replace LIKE for LIKE , checking the part numbers match. anything else aint going to work

Ah ok thanks for the info!
I have got an FM transmitter but the sound quality isn't amazing and listening to it for any length of time gives me a headache, so not ideal for long journeys. I can't believe Volvo designers invested time and money making this simple thing super difficult! |

MOST isn't main dealer only. A proper audio specialist, not just a car stereo fitter, can handle it, as they did with my XC90 when I wanted some bits chopped and changed.
The downside is that there aren't many about and they have you by the plums, so are often as expensive as going to the dealer. I got "lucky", in the the guy who worked on mine broke the on-call, and it took so long to get sorted he didn't charge me for the work he'd done.

However I did find a performance stereo for a price I was willing to take a chance on and try............the bad news is as everyone said it doesn't work! The stereo powers on but isn't recognised by the car at all. So lesson to others Volvo stereo system is 100% coded to the car and cannot be changed at home as a DIY option. But to answer your question yes to me it looks like the switch diverts the radio signal either to the box for your own music or aerial for radio. |
