Default V60 Tailgate Boot won’t open

Hi
2013 5Cyl D4 V60 Se lux.
145k mls 230k Kms.

Boot won’t open, all of sudden.
Push switch on outside of tailgate the one above the license plate between bulbs, no click, no unlocking.

I bought car 2nd hand 3 years ago.
Never a problem with this previously.
I do remark that The dash switch and the remote switch have never worked, but the switch on the boot always did, until now.

Any ideas appreciated.

I have found how to do manual release from inside with small screwdriver, judiciously placed in small hole in locking mechanism and moved corr3ctly.

Theory 1 switch is bust.
Buy new one and replace.
Hard to test theory otherwise.
Seems to be one large sealed unit with tailgate bulbs, looks dear,

Theory 2 actuator (micro motor) that releases lock, is bust.
Buy new lock and replace.
Might be waste.
The manual release works fine so seems least likely issue,

Theory 3, this chap’s ‘Fix’ in a 70 series, based on official Volvo bulletin apparently
https://youtu.be/PRIUBEqEgAA
His explanation is a bit vague, over stressed connector for ground connector, but the fix is straightforward.

Theory 4. Pinched wires somewhere in harness meeting metal at hinge,
No other elect4ical glitches eg wiper, de mister or lights, other than non-functioning dash/remote.
I have had this issue pretty bad previously in BMW E61 tailgate, but V60 wiring routing seems more straightforward.

All opinions valued.
Yes I know I can take to dealer, but if anyone knows of common issue or which of my theories might be to pursue initially I’d appreciate it. Specifically has anyone ever heard of the 70 series issue described in the link video above, happening with the 60 series.

Thanks for reading.

Having watched the UTube video, I personally would go with your option 3 first. Reason being, there is the least expense, and it could be the fix you require. If it is unsuccessful you can go with other options in whatever order you like.

Did you ever manage to fix this? If so, please could you detail what was wrong?

Many thanks

I found a broken wire sheath on the loom that fits through the large rubber grommet between boot and bodywork. Repaired and fixed
