Default C30 injector module/computer location or serial number

Hi all. I was having my 2.0d C30 remapped today and was told they needed the injector computer number or serial number to continue but the garage couldn't find it. I've tried searching for where this is online, I presume an ECU like box somewhere under the dash/bonnet but I've had no luck. Or could be it in the ECU and I just need to know what program number it is for a 2.0d or something?

Anyone know where to find it or what number the mapping software requires? Any help appreciated.

That photo is for the additive dosing module, which is only found on cars with 'wet' DPFs (that use Eolys additive for regeneration). As far as I'm aware that particular module is for cars with 1.6D engines, and is indeed under the rear seats.

As far as the part numbers and serial numbers for the ECUs fitted to the car, they can be read using VIDA or most of the decent garage quality diagnostics kit. If the people doing the remapping are unable to figure this out, then I'd be looking for another place to have it remapped.

Thanks for that. I was searching online and different names for that module were coming up like Injection module etc, which led me to believe that's what I needed to find.

You're right about going to a different garage to get it mapped, although this is a neighbouring unit at work and they're trying to help me out with it and they have the facilities to map it there. They have a company help remotely to actually write a map etc, so I'm wondering if they think it's a 1.6D with wet DPF instead of a 2.0? A specialist would be ideal but I'm also trying to keep costs down, as I don't want it mapped for performance, I just want it to stop smoking!

Last question if I may ask... This number they were asking about, would there be anything similar on my car that they need? Or is it direct injection and it is how it is?

A 2.0D can have a wet DPF as well, just for info.

The mapping for the car is contained in the ECM (all Volvo electronics boxes are 'Modules' so ECM rather than ECU!). Depending on which year/engine/emissions standard it will either be near the battery or in the front of the left wheelarch (wheel off and remove liner, and there's a ECU box in there).

Remapping to get rid of smoke is surely just covering up the problem, wouldn't it be better to simply fix the fault that is causing it to smoke?

things to check re smoking air filter check egr is working and not stuck do a leakoff test on the injectors clean sensors in the throttle body . aso bear in mind you are burning oil as a fuel. how much is your car smokeing? remaping will not fix your problem it may make it worse

I have cleaned the egr and it was springing back and sealing nicely, all sensors cleaned, I do need to do a smoke test though and look at injectors.

The idea is not to remap it, but the mechanic can have a mapping specialist look over the current map to see if it's been done poorly previously. It only blows a cloud of black smoke at 2k or so in the higher gears if I put my foot down, hence us thinking it's overfuelling at certain RPMS etc.No other noises or running issues, that's why we don't think it's a leak or sensor, but not completely ruling it out.
