I suppose that strimmer line is worth a try but I suspect that it will be too flexible to be able to push it very far. I found that as more curtain wire was inserted the friction increased and more force was required to overcome that. As the wire also needed to be twirled to assist it’s progress curtain wire did not simply wind itself up on itself. I hope that makes sense.

I'm thinking of trying to use a garage air line to blow down the pipe. I wondered if I could modify an old tyre valve to create the jet. Setting the pump to the flat tyre setting should push enough air out.
