Default 164 BW35 refurb

Hello fellow Volvo fans,

My BW 35 automatic gearbox is leaking all the time. Ever since I had the oil changed. It’s been back to have the cork gasket replaced for the second time but it’s still leaking. It does appear to be further up but hard to pin point exactly where.

Firstly has anyone else had this problem?

Secondly, who’s the go to place for a total gearbox refurbishment

Many thanks
Steve

This chap offers exchange BW35 gearboxes on eBay for £695:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265159231...cAAOSwsaZgnYkW

... I have no experience of this seller, but it seems a fair price and the company's own web site looks very convincing:

borgwarnertransmissionspecialist.com

Hello Alan,

Thank you for taking the time to post a reply. I have seen this on eBay, almost seems too good to be true. Has anyone used them?

I've not used him, because I've always done my own, as well as overhauling for other people, but since I've stopped doing them, he has taken on the mantle. It's always difficult recommending people, but what I would say is that he does do a thorough job, and I'd suggest getting in touch with him, and seeing what you think. His name is Andy BTW.

What a useful post. First hand knowledge is by far the best.

Yet again this forum proves to be invaluable.
