Smile Performance Optimisation for XC90 D5 with RICA E-Power

RICA E-Power is a special economy-optimised performance ECM upgrade from RICA Engineering available for the XC90 D5 185 hp Euro 4 and many other models. The RICA E-Power upgrade brings you many benefits:
  • 205 hp and 450 Nm - same figures as the Volvo Polestar upgrade.
  • 100% Volvo service compliant, which allows any Volvo dealer to service your car as before and install any Volvo software updates whenever required.
  • Fuel economy improved by up to 15%, making your car cheaper to run.
  • CO2 emissions reduced by up to 15%, making your car kinder to the environment.
  • Geartronic delay from standstill is virtually eliminated, thus improving safety at junctions and roundabouts.
  • Safer overtaking with the extra 50 Nm torque in the mid range.
  • Easier and more enjoyable to drive.
  • All factory safety systems and immobilisation systems are unaffected and continue to work in the same way as they would on the standard car.
  • DPF regeneration system is unaffected and functions exactly as before. Any cars recalled for the DPF update will retain this update even with the RICA software reinstalled afterwards.

If your XC90 D5 is out of warranty and you want the same performance enhancements as the Volvo Polestar upgrade but without the expense, plus all the benefits above, the RICA E-Power upgrade is the perfect choice!

TMS Volvo (Coventry Volvo dealer) are doing a special group-buy offer for all XC90 D5 models, with the RICA E-Power upgrade available for just £317.25 inc VAT.

Will the re-map be lost with a dealer software upgrade during servicing? And if yes, what's the cost to get the car re-mapped?

Only if a service requires an ECM update. If it does, then the Volvo dealer ECM update will overwrite the RICA software. The RICA software will then need to be re-installed, but you won't lose the Volvo updates because they will be included in the RICA re-installation.

RICA does not charge anything for these software updates.

Yes, the RICA iSoftloader is an option which allows for distance mapping, but I would recommend that you contact TMS Volvo to find out whether it is available as part of their special offer.

HI

im sorry to say but this will invalidate the warranty.

There are a lot of ecm recalls at the moment, the main one being for the engine oil level.

If your car goes in for this recall the software in the ecm will be rewitten so the upgrade will be lost.

The only upgrade that will not be over written is the Volvo polestar.

Default Optimum outcomes with single MTE software package.

The Swedish written premium MTE software for the 5 pot diesel engines gives the very best optimisation of the engine outputs for both improved performance on the road and improved fuel consumption if you drive the car with that goal in mind.

The MTE diesel map costs just £435 including VAT and you can install it yourself with the aid of the unique MTE Softloader and an XP equipped laptop. You do not have to undertake any journey to get MTE installed in your car.

You do have to pay £155 fully returnable deposit for the Softloader device. You can view the scope of MTE's Softloader system if you visit the website of their US distributor www.ipdusa.com

Regards, Don.

As mentioned at the beginning, if your car is out of warranty then there is no warranty to invalidate! Therefore the RICA E-Power upgrade is a perfectly good (and better value) alternative to the Polestar upgrade for cars out of warranty. The RICA E-Power delivers 205 hp and 450 Nm, exactly the same as Polestar.

As mentioned above, under such circumstance the RICA ECU upgrade will be re-installed without having to pay for a RICA remap again. The RICA re-installation process also retains any Volvo software updates. Therefore nothing is lost.

Default Component protection.

Unfortunately the experienced and knowledgeable owners, some might say opinionated, of many Volvos that have had software upgrades now congregate elsewhere.

It is well worth checking this thread, and others on that site to get some insight from those who have already made their purchases:
