MACP

I recently went through this and there are many threads on the topic. This is my experience and views;

The only upgrade bulbs worth buying at Philips Ultra Blue Vision and Osram Nighbreakers (I am more biased to the Philips due as from my experience they just work better across a number of cars and bikes I have fitted them to over the years).

As for the OEM headlights, they do pit etc and these are your options;

1) replace headlamp lens (about £50 each) and fit new bulbs (marginal improvement only)
2) fit projector style headlights and the upgraded bulbs listed above (much better) or a reflector specific HID kit (HIDS4U.co.uk caters for this)
3) fit projectors with a HID kit.

I have always used HIDS4U kits. Trust me on this the quality and hassle free service they offer cannot be matched especially for the price. I always use the 35w pro plus kits and its a genuine plug & play installation, with the Volvo being a doddle to work on.

Hope some of the following below helps you progress with resolving your lights issue and deciding on what is right for you.

HIDS4U kits;

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-35w-propl...rsion-kit.html

I have a further discount code for this and got my kit for the C70 for about £65/70 all in. PM me for the discount code

Also, I have fitted and personally recommend the 35w Pro Plus 6000K option. This gives a good distinct HID look but also offers exceptional light output.

Some videos of this kit from me;

Run 1
in the Supra (OEM projector lights as per factory with OEM bulbs)

Same run as above with HIDS4U 6000K kit fitted.
The video in this from position 1:22> starts from the same point as the one above.

Run 2

In the supra again, now turned around and comming back the other way. OEM lights and bulbs

With HIDS4U 6000K kit fitted;

A thread I put up prior to purchasing my projectors set from partsforvolvoonline. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...ojector&page=3

For what its worth, my projectors and indicators set was about £326 all delivered. I have HIDS4U kit as the dipped beam and Philips blue vision bulbs everywhere else.

Excellent response thankyou

I cant really afford to cough up 326 quid so I think as my reflectors are fine I can go for the HiD kit and retrofit to my existing headlights.A friend of mine fitted a 6000k HiD kit to his 850R which he purchased from a Hong Kong ebayer for 45 quid and he says the difference is like night and day.Seems like the HIDS4U kit you have suggested is the same thing ?

The HID kits appear to pretty similar but when people have compared their cheaper ebay kits to the various HIDS4U kits on the cars I have fitted them too, the ballasts for the HIDS4U kits appear to be more heavy duty and better finished. The bulbs also produce a better quality light too.

The install is genuine plug & play, HIDS4U also offer a excellent quibble free warranty for 2 years should anything go wrong (I have not had 1 issue across 43 kits over 3 years) and with the discount (which I will PM you tomorrow as going out shortly for new years) just makes its a very stress free way of going about it without sacrificing quality etc.

I've just put Osram Nightbreakers into my other car (H4 bulb) and they are usefully brighter and whiter. To say any more is too subjective but for me they were worth the £24 from autobulbsdirect (sister of HIDS4U).

The main site for HIDS4U;
http://www.hids4u.co.uk/

There is the following video showing how to install the kit;
+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Volvo 70 fitment;

You will need to drill a 21mm circular hole in those plastic caps you twist at the back of the headlamp unit. This is to feed the bulb through and then allow the rubber gromit on the wiring to for a water tight seal.

My ballasts are mounted as follows;

O/S = cable tied to the neck of the washer fluid bottle.
N/S = stuck to the lower face of the air box

Go on, you have the discount code now, get it ordered
