Default 2013 XC70 gearbox fluid change

Hi all

Just picked up an 13 plate XC70 with 140k. It is one owner and has an incredible (and eye-wateringly expensive) service record with the main dealer who supplied it and tool car back as px. Only thing missing is a gearbox service which I know is not a standard service.

There is an odd heavy gear change so I'm keen on getting the fluid changed. Doing some research it seems like adapatation needs doing and counter resetting. I know this is a Vida /Dice requirement however the Foxwell NT530 can do the some functions that can be seen in the attachement.

I'm coming from a Skoda so I'm used to using VCDS. Whilst I will be selling my ross-tech cables I don't really want to spend hundreds again on diagnostic equipment. Will the Foxwell do what I need for the fluid change?

Any other advice on the change?

AFAIK the main requirements for the fluid change are to drain at the proper temperature. Then take the level reading at same temp. Yes you should set counter etc but not sure that it is imperative for the box functioning safely.
Proper fluid, either Volvo, Mobil Jws, or Aisin WS and a good few changes should see you good.

Unless that vehicle has a fault, there will be no need to reset the adaptations or fluid counter.

The adaptations will alter as you chance the fluid anyway. And the service counter is not required unless a fault is logged and you require reset.

Regarding changing the fluid it’s considered better to do sump dumps to refresh the fluid gently and give the gear box time to change.

You can change the fluid at ambient temp, however should level it at 50-60C.

I'd like to do the change myself but I'm wondering if I will have enough room to get under and be able to access the drain for setting the level? Alternative is a get two more axle stands.
