Thumbs down C30 Engine stall when revs are high

My 2010 1.6d DrivE C30 has started to develop a weird problem. Intermittently the engine kind of stalls and power drops, so much so that i have to stop and restart the engine before i can move on. When the car is warm, it is less of an issue.

There are no warning lights on the dash when it happens, the car has done 59,000 miles and the car has been serviced as per the schedule. It needs another service now but it has never done this before.

This evening, at -2C the car stalled five times on a short journey to the shop. I have read a little about the EGR Valve becoming coked up with Carbon, however i have no idea what i can do about it.

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated on what is the cause and the solution of this issue.

Thanks

I decided to take a look under the bonnet today and i noticed deep down that a tube had perished and come off the metal sleeve which went into the engine block.

Just near the radiator fan there are two narrow air tubes which feed up to an electric module, right next to the battery. I felt sure this was the issue and spent a lot of time wedging my less than small hands into the tight engine bay to fit a new tube. However, this doesnt seem to have made any difference, because when i tested it after, i had a red warning light telling me i need urgent maintenance and the car wont go over 3000rpm at all.

So frustratingly i am back to square one, cash is tight right now and i cant really afford an expensive garage bill. Perhaps i should bite the bullet and try a new fuel filter.

Thumbs down

How do i find the error code, does this mean i need to hook it up to a garage diagnostic?

There are a few warnings on the dash (orange triangles) one for a bulb, the other for saying that a service is now due. Today i got a red triangle, saying something along the lines of urgent maintenance required or something like that.
