Well...no error codes whatsoever, couldn't replicate the problem either, checked sparks all fine.. He didn't seem to think it was coils as the effect wasn't harsh enough..

Maybe resetting the ECU worked?! Cheapest fix I've ever done...

See how it goes over the next few days, if it is a coil pack then it will come back. Otherwise well done and a nice easy fix.

Wish all problems were so simple?

That won't work for long. I should slowly be changing my coil packs, as my stuttering at higher rpms is getting worse and starting earlier and earlier...

Yeah mine could be the beginning of coil problems but not serious enough to warrant changing yet I don't think, its only sometimes, very subtley and not really really bugging me yet..if It gets worse..I'll definatley renew..

Is there any upgraded coils that fit or are worth getting? I saw that cosworth do some but there £70 each for something that looks identical!!

No reason for it. The Cossy parts aren't any different than the Motorcraft ones from Ford. Simply get some of them and done. I wouldn't bother with anything else

Well...changed coils, problem SEEMED to get better/go away, its back...

When is the fuel filter changed? At what interval.. The problem seems to get worse when the tank is at its lowest..

What the hell could it be!!!

I think I know your problem...

You say it gets worse when the tank is low filled?

EITHER your fuel had a good chunk of water in it (wouldn't be the first time that has caused some issues - I had some "kind of like" issues you are having after getting some cheap fuel in East Germany, siphoned the tank out, filled some fresh fuel in: problem gone).

What fuel do you tank? E10 (10% ethanol) isn't a problem for the 2.0l. But Say E30 (when E5 is mixed with E85 rests) is a tad too much, as it will draw water over time.

It could also be, that you have a little hole in your fuel intake in your tank.

The fuel filter isn't to be changed what so ever as it is really service free. The 1.8 and 2.0l have a maintance free fuel filter (no idea how that is supposed to work, as filters block sometime in life) and it is fixed to the fuel pump IN your tank. Access is via the little rubber cap under the passenger side rear seat cushion.

Not sure what mix petrol it is, we don't get a choice over here, just 95ron, 98 or 100ron..

I generally use Shell or Sainsburys..

I always drive the car from a full tank right down to empty..

And it still stutters with a full tank?
