Exclamation 2.0L Petrol - struggling/loss of power

I asked the question on the C30 forum a while ago but had no response...

When cruising or driving at a constant speed, the car feels like it dip's in power/struggles for a very brief moment so the ride sometimes feels lumpy..
It also happens sometimes when pulling through the rev range..

The way it FEELS is as though the brakes are being dabbed. Not bad fuel, always serviced by Volvo, 76k miles, changed sparks, cleaned air filter, checked brakes, no warning lights...I've mentioned it before at a service but they couldn't find anything nor replicate the problem...they say

Any ideas?!

Good shout...Do you know when/how many miles that's changed at? It must have been changed at least twice already right?

What your describing sounds like the car is hesitating/stuttering?? Is this the case?

I'm thinking that is sounds like a coil pack may be faulty.

One of these? Hopefully not all of them... Is it a known problem or a likely problem at 76k miles?

Yes, that's them. I have not heard of them being a common failure on Volvo's but certainly on other marques they are a very common problem (Audi TT).

Of course as a pure keyboard diagnostic I couldn't be certain but it sounds like it is electrical and the coil pack is the next likely thing on the list as you say you have changed the plugs already?? Did you ensure the gap is correct on the plugs?

If it is a coil pack then chances are it is just one, is there any error codes stored?

Plugs changed a good few k miles ago but decent iridium plugs.

Taking it to my buddies garage tomorrow to plug it into their diagnostic equipment, will report back with any codes..if any. We'll check spark plug gap etc also.

Coil packs are wear and tear items. The fuelfilter is service free means it doesn't need to be changed. I'd look at the coil packs too. After 80-100k miles they are quite worn.
