Battery issue
I have the battery low warning coming up which started a couple of months ago when it was colder. The battery I think is about 2 years old. The car starts fine and everything works well other than the alarm / door entry. I have to click the button to unlock or lock relentlessly to make it work.
I’ve tested the battery voltage today and getting 14.1v with engine off and 19.2v with engine running. Before I replace the battery is there any other testing that I should do or maybe cheaper components to swap out first? Any and all suggestions welcome! |

Those numbers look a bit (very) high, how are you testing ? The earth of your meter should be to the body of the car not the -'ve terminal of the battery.
Depending how soon you check the voltage after switching the engine off it should be no lower than 12.6v for a battery in top condition, it may be higher if tested immediately after switching off. Below 12v and it should be replaced. With engine running 14.4/5v would be normal, certainly not 19+v that looks very wrong.

Ah ok, I tested pos to neg on the battery using one of the cheap LAP digital multimeters from Screwfix. I’ll have another check in the morning on pos to grounding point, see what that comes up with.

With the engine off a good battery should give 12.7v. Each of the 6 cells is 2.1v.
As GMcL says you should have 14.5v with the engine running.

With the battery over 2 years old, I'd load check it. Brand? Amperage? History? How often has it been flattened? Factors like if its a eurocarfarts unit would definitely warrant a replacement...

I had this when I bought my 2014 S60. I spent ages on the internet and found it was the sensor as everything worked fine.
I'd change the remote battery and if that doesn't work do a reset of the sensor, see if that helps? |
