Hi and thanks for your helpful suggestion. Unfortunately most of what you said went a bit over my head. My fault as not much of a mechanic. Would you know if there is anywhere that might show me a step by step guide of what you have described? Alternativly the part number of vacuum pipe you replaced so I can just have a go at replacing the part.

The vacuum pipe is a thin plastic pipe with a rubber sleeve at each end . It connects under the inlet manifold and to the regulator on the end of the fuel rail . Its only a push fit so is easy to remove and inspect. most motor factors would sell it by the metre. For the sake of a couple of quid its worth replacing , just to eliminate one more thing.
