XC60 power tailgate
Just looking into a possible problem with my XC60's power operated tailgate.
If I turn on the ignition while the gate is opening or closing it stops. Nothing unusual in that. However, the gate can not be moved from there with either the key, dash or gate buttons and must be forcibly closed. Once in the closed position, it functions as normal. Can anyone else please tell me if they have experienced this problem? Many thanks. |

I had a similar experience at the weekend.
I'd parked the car and opened the tailgate. I then decided to pull the car a bit further forward, so started her up again and crept forward a foot with the tailgate still open. When I then tried to close the tailgate nothing happened and none of the buttons seemed to work. Tried restarting the car but that had no effect. After a fit of giggles from the wife who thought the new "spoiler" looked pretty good, I closed the tailgate manually. Its worked fine ever since, so can only think its some sort of cut off safety mechanism. |

Yup me too was showing a friend and it stopped half way, after forcing it down it then worked OK.
Gonna take into the dealer and see what they say.

Never had a problem with my Mk1 human arm stopping half way down, the door has always gone all the way down and shut correctly using this method

Sounded like a fob off, But it could be true (makes some sense). I tried it quite a few times since and It's fine at the moment, so will wait and see, No need to be worried as is in warranty.
