Default Number plate rules?

I ordered some new number plates from an online company at weekend, after submitting the order I ralised I had mistyped my registration, ie

Instead of AA01 AAA I typed AA 01 AAA

How likely am i getting to get in trouble with the Police if I use them?

Ps, I've checked the direct.gov website for the rules, it only mentions the 1 space between the number and the 3 random letters so would pursume that they are illegal.

Come on, you can't throw in a personalised plate and then not explain its significance. Were these your grades at A levels, A's for everything, you were number 1 in the class?

Didn't know you could have '01' thought it was 'Y' then '51'????

If you've asked the plate maker to do legal plates, they'll do them with legal spacing regardless of what you've told them.

Most places would, I'd have thought, defaulted to "Legal" plates unless you specify you're after show plates.

Well it's an online show plate company. Thier illegal anyway as they don't have the marker of the maker (supposed to have post code at least to identify who made them) and to my knowledge, they do no checks on the vehicle owner. (I reckon I could have entered your reg had I wanted, and this is exactly the reason I don't display my reg online.)

Default Number plates.

Number plate spacing rules are quite clear so I'll avoid that discussion. However, notwithstanding that issue, the insurance sector are wising up to this now and there is a good chance your insurance will be voided if you fit"show plates".

Example, you have an accident and (a) the police are involved, and (b) your insurers need to view/assess the car?

You have"show plates", they conclude these are illegal and therefore it (the vehicle) should not have passed the MoT test and therefore it is not roadworthy.

I know of one incident (personally - not me) where this was the outcome: the owner is still paying finance but has no car!

IMO people that mess about with spacing etc, should really get a life.

I ordered my plates on line and there was a tick box asking whether you required legal plates.
I made sure I ticked that, as the rozzers in some areas are sh1t hot about that sort of thing.
If however all else is legal and it's only the spacing that's dodgy, you may well be alright? Just be prepared to order legal replacements sharpish

Well I plan on keeping the current plates in the boot just in case. Everything else is legal in respects of font size, style and no background and I have the Union Flag and GREAT BRITAIN underneath it, instead of the EU flag which is legal.
