Welcome. Also yesterday, I picked up my new V70 D4 Geartronic caspian blue with sand leather & it's lovely. Sad to see the old V70 go though: I'd had it from new for 11 1/2 years.

Welcome and a very nice car you have bought, may you have many more years enjoying (all) your Volvos.
I take it the "German" bit of "swedishandgerman" is the Beetle we see the corner of in the photo - unless you have a Porsche tucked away somewhere.......

Welcome to you too Tim, like you I had my first Volvo (a 2.5 850) for 12 years and it never missed a beat. I hope your new one lasts as long as your old V70.

Thanks folks. Mine's the Business Edition, plus leather, front park beepers, power mirrors, 17 inch wheels & skinny spare wheel. Was a bit scary spending so much (particularly when I don't do many miles, don't drive for work), but the last time I did this was more than 11 years ago.
Dealer gave me a decent price for my old V70, which needs at least one door lock module. If anyone here buys a non-metallic blue '51 plate V70S 170 manual with sand leather at auction soon, drop me a line - it might be my old one, & I've got all the receipts. Some things were better on the old V70, some things have been improved on the new one. Only done 90 miles so far of gentle pottering. Trip shows 35MPG & is improving all the time. I'm paranoid of scratching it on twigs on the narrow rural roads, & it it feels wider than the old one. Tim. |

Ta! Mine's the "Billy-Base" spec with just the metallic and the 17" wheels. I had a very strict budget from my company and it had to be below 120g/km. When my colleagues - the ones who have ordered Golfs, A3's and Insignias - heard me say I've ordered a Volvo, they thought I was getting a V40 and couldn't believe I have a massive great big car INCLUDING nav!
I thought it had an automatic hand-brake that comes on when you pull up to a halt.... I've spent a stupid sum on expensive wax and now I'm delighted with my choice of colours @ GrantA - I called myself Swedishandgerman when I just had my Beetle Cabrio and my Amazon. now there are 3 Swedish ones, the Beetle and the onlt French car I like - a Traction Avant '53

Ah, company car. Volv's do tend to be a bit costlier then other for some reason but still sounds like you got a great car. At least you'll know which is yours in the car park.
The handbrake will auto release, never heard of a handbrake that auto applys though. |

Yay! More people in our "gang"!
Congrats on the new cars, Swedish, yours looks good, Tim, will you post pics of yours? Interesting that you both went for straightforward specs but with a couple of additions. I did the same on mine, Tim - Caspian Blue for me too, and Swedish, I had the Njord 17" alloys like yours but have since changed them for a selection of 17" Cassinis and 17" Balders. (Out of interest, what made you choose the Njords?) |
