Talking Centre Console Damage advise

Hello everyone,

My first post so please bear with me. I have done a search for this but couldnt find anything. Just bought my second Volvo a S80 2.5t se sport, which I am loving, couple of blips though the last owner was a smoker so the interior is a wee bit smelly, and there is a strange bubble just beside the gear stick.

Does anybody know of a way to either remove it, repair it? or will I have to replace that bit of the centre console? Here is a picture to better illustrate.

Someone's drawn on it with black marker as well!!!!

Looks to me like it's got hot and melted, think that'll be a new part I'm afraid. The Haynes manual for this year does cover the trim removal for the centre console, looks to be a delicate job.

Might be worth sending the picture to one of these smart repair companies? They should be able to give you a quote and might be better than having the dash pulled apart.

Good luck mind I couldn't get a quote for a seat repair in Aberdeen from chips away, changed postcode to Cannock and eureka.

Sorry to go off thread but that's like getting something delivered up here, "Oh you live in the Highlands, that'll be an extra £50 for delivery please.....". You'd think we live in outer Mongolia not Scotland - which is still part of the UK (at the moment!!!).

Is the mark superglue ? if it is there are ways to remove carefully - do Internet search.
I would agree interior repair firm may fix cheaply
Last resort is to replace it - may not be extortionate as us price is about $120 but it depends how much it bothers you vs price

Uk prices have been about 10-20% more on items I have needed. I have also imported parts but that is complicated.

Of little use to you, but could be air freshner related. Many cheaper air freshners on an elastic band actually react with the plastics and damage them.

Maybe one wrapped around the gear knob? Some folks don't like them hanging from the mirror.

Repair wise, I'd guess new trim, which although do-able, will be fiddly and delicate. Is there something good that could be attached there to cover it up? Phone holder or an air freshner tin?

Thank you for all the replies. The last owner was a heavy smoker sadly so I am assuming it is burn from a cigar or cigarette.

But good news i have just changed it with a part from evolv parts, straight swap and only cost £40.00.

Wasn't too fiddly luckily the worst part was at the beginning trying to get the silver surround from the cd and radio selector, but did eventually manage and only took about an hour and a half total. And result as good as new :-)
