I must say I was unaware that gear wheels on a Yazaki caused problems. I have never seen a post here on that specific subject. It's a specific fault common to a VDO unit.

The normal problems with a Yazaki are bad solder joints and capacitors.

I attach a useful link on the Yazaki: http://cleanflametrap.com/speedo7.html

I've been asleep since i read the heading Bob but this is new person posting i think?

Just double checked Bob, the OP was "Basher1" and the person asking about where to get a gear for the Yazaki speedo is "Belal960".

If it is the same year, better off getting a replacement speedo IME, often the capacitors have leaked and corroded the IC pins so even if the caps are renewed, the ICs are dead because they are effectively legless.
In common with specimens of the human race, an IC that is legless will be unpredictable!

Your ahead of me Dave! I didn't check that important detail!! Tunnel vision!

Anyway it doesn't change my comment to Belal960 about a gear wheel in a Yazaki unless you have experienced otherwise.

I've never come across a broken gear in a Yazaki either Bob, usually the stepper motor driver IC is the one with broken/missing legs from the caps leaking electrolyte onto them which will result in no odo or trip meter function.

That won't be a gear then as if a gear strips the teeth it can't move so won't work at all.

You may get away with reflowing the solder joints but if any legs are corroded on the ICs then not.
Like i said further up, you're better off findng a working speedo from another 1991 car.
