Have thought about this many times J. Should just be a straight drill through the plastic into the aluminium bumper afaik. Had visions of my 240 on longer springs, off road tyres, massive roof rack, roof ladder and Land Rover tow bar step. Hope I'm giving you some ideas. lol

Re the black 240, metal wrap around bull bars, even if fitted to pre May 2007 vehicles, are highly likely to get you nicked under the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 now, unless they were standard at manufacture, sorry to be the bearer of bad news

It does look cool though, like something out of 'Mad Max'!

Afaik you are still allowed to buy old stock bars which havent been crash tested but when the law changed all bars manufactured from that day had to comply with x,y,z

However, I think you will find that just because your car is an '85 that doesn't mean it doesn't have to comply with an '86 law, re the wrap around metal ones

I'm not tying to put a damper on things for you, just trying to make sure you don't get 3 points and a fine!

From what I can gather the Police in some areas of the country are hotter on this than others, I guess they're so used to seeing them on farm vehicles in certain rural areas that they turn a blind eye to all
