Default Clutch only 3 inches off floor

Hello folks,

v50 2009. My clutch is only 2 to 3 inches off the floor. This has been getting lower over time. Now it's difficult to get into gear. Is this a worn clutch?

Thanks,

Mike

Have you checked the fluid level, and maybe try bleeding it

No. I will do that so. I wrongly assumed it could only be a more serious issue than that. You are right. Check the basics first. Thank you.

There was a recall about 7 years ago for a new clutch Master Cylinder, your dealer will have the details if your car was one of the ones affected..
If all is ok there, I would suspect the slave cylinder between engine and gearbox is sticking/worn...

I had a similar issue with our C30 try lifting the clutch pedal up then see if it’s better. If so it’s the clutch return spring needs replacing.

Have this problem with my 2009 V50. Pull the pedal up with my foot and it's good for another 30 - 50 miles before it goes down to the floor again.

On the top of the clutch pedal, it connects to a loop on the bulkhead.
Bit fiddly to do but it fixed mine. I got the spring from Ford as it was half the price.
