Talking Transmission Problems - solutions.

So my old post is a bit long and hard to figure out. And i finally got time to clarify it.

I have purchased a 2001 Volvo C70 Convertible, with a bad transmission. It worked fine when it was cold, after 10 minutes of driving it started to flare up, another 5 minutes of driving made it slam into gears. ( i mean a BIG BOOM sort of slam ). 10 minutes after that it would not go out of 3rd gear and would stall every time i have stopped at the light, unless i moved the lever to Neutral.

In order to fix it i have tried everything i could think of, B4 servo cover did not help, fluid changes did nothing, i have replaced top engine mount and lower transmission mounts as they were worn, that seemed to make the slams a little less violent. Software updates have been all done to the car. nothing made any difference.

This issue was solved by replacing the valve body and running a transmission adaptation.

Replacing the valve body was very straight forward and took me (average monkey with a hammer) about 4 hours.

once valve body was replaced shifts became smooth as silk, but flares remained until i have done the adaptation procedure. after that it was flawless.

Good Luck, Hope this Helps.

By the way i should add, if you are going to do this, you may want to find a gasket for the oil pan, as at least in the US volvo dealers do not sell them, they use that silicone sealant thing, i did see them on ebay for around 20$. it is worth the money. trust me, i had to take it off a few times to reseal as it kept leaking due to me having to touch it with my fingers to pull it down to its place.
