Default Volvo C70 - Back End Losing Control! Sluggish Acceleration.

Hiya All (2006 Volvo C70 Convertible Manual)

I am looking for someone local that has VIDA so they can diagnose in W.Yorkshire (Dealers wanna charge £150!)

I purchased a Volvo C70 with a few gremlins and we are trying to figure out what could be the cause so i will list symptoms here if someone can offer guidance?

1. The backend sometimes loses it on any speed or gear.
2. EML keeps coming on.
3. Only once did i get an "anti skid service required"
4. The car is sluggish to accelerate and sluggish to reach speeds.
5. Water keeps getting to the roof motor even though drains were cleared.

The car has been well maintained except the roof motor was soaked in water so ive replaced that, but water is getting in somehow which we are working on.

The codes we found are

ECM-950C
ECM 2600
ECM 3400

Mechanic says it cant be all of that so its a wiring issue or some other issue.

According to research, it could be a YAW Sensor, a Steering Wheel Angle Sensor, an ABS fuse fault or ABS module replacement.

Im thinking to start with the inexpensive stuff to see if the car behaves? Whilst i find a local person that can read Vida codes at not so crazy prices...

back end might be springs or dampers, I am on my third set of rear springs !! I dont find that it breaks away but feels like it wants to go straight ahead on corners when the springs have gone but a visual check deep into the spring cups is worthwhile

Thanks Ian!

My mechanic had a look at bushes etc and all of that and said it all looked fine. The car had a major service too not far back and all came back fine.

I will ask the mechanic to check deep in the cup well as you suggested. I hope that its something simple. I thought it might be something to do with the anti skid kicking in and causing some kind of issue?

what part of yorkshire are you in? what are your rear tires like ? c70 rear tires can soon loose there tread on the inner edges its very common on this car platform. due to the camber on the rear. the seals on the rear lights can sometimes leak . a cheap easy fix abt £10

Thanks Simmy

Im in Thornhill, which is v near to Wakefield. Fuel is so expensive now, but i would travel for the sake of getting this damn thing fixed so i can drive safely

So do you think the water is getting in the boot through the light seals and i should check them out and its a £10-ish fix (part number avail or ebay link?)

Cheers Simmy

Its due to low tyre pressures ! 38 psi ( minimum 36 ) on this heavy wide tyred car ..
