Default First service?

I'm getting towards the first 1,000 miles now and it occurred to me that on my bike there was a service after 500 miles, mainly to change the oil to get rid of the metal fragments from it being a new engine.

I haven't seen anything pop up for the XC90 so far, and I don't have the service book to hand. When's the first service? Does it not need an oil change reasonably early to remove a load of stuff that a new engine would shed in those first few hundred miles?

There's a 3 month check, for which the dealer may contact you, or you'll have to call and book an appointment.

There does not tend to be a reminder in the car. As KNVXC90 as says it is probably best to contact your dealer for the 3 month Quality Assurance Inspection.

Not sure whether an oil change is included in this however.

First actual service is due at 12 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.
You can opt to pay for an early oil change if you like, but I wouldn't do it before the first 5000 miles, in order for the engine to run-in properly first. It will do you more good than the car if you worry about such things.

Does everyone get this "3 month QA check" or does it depend on the dealer and is more goodwill/nice to see you rather than essential? My purchasing dealer is over 200 miles away, so I'm not likely to go back to have a cheery chat about the first few thousand miles

I'm not sure if my local dealer, having had no involvement in my purchasing journey, is likely to wave me in with open arms to have a hug about my 3 month old volvo

There is no early first service , the service is due in a year or 18000 miles .

There is a free optional Quality Assured Inspection after 3 months which is just a quick general check over , levels , lights tyre pressures etc wash & vacuum . mainly to keep you in contact with the dealer and answer any questions you might have after 3 months of owning a new and perhaps unfamiliar car .

He might if he is going to get you to have it serviced there. Also look after you for any warranty claims .

I bought my car from a dealer 120 miles away. I called my 'local' one for the 3 month check and they had no issue - but as mentioned above, they probably expect to see me back for the future services

Did not have a 3 month check as my car has been in for a check every month at least
