Default XC70 D5 Absolute Throttle Position

Morning all,

My vida is showing a TPS value of 89% at idle and this reading does not fluctuate with throttle peddle movement.

Can I assume that my sensor needs replacing or should I remove and clean first?

Car starts ok with perfect idle and no hesitations however I would be happy with improved throttle response.

Thanks,

don't assume anything ,It could be very expensive .. I have never known a pedal fail yet though ... don't try cleaning it, its a sealed unit , that's going to ruin it . best get it diagnosed properly if you do have a problem 👍

You don't say whether or not it's been like this since you bought it, also year and gearbox auto/manual.

It could be just a D5 "thing" and there are a few threads on here regarding this hesitancy/lag.

A "Polestar" upgrade usually sorts this, but it's not cheap (look out for dealer offers) and they normally offer a 7-14 day trial whereby you pay upfront and if within the period are not happy, they will remove it and refund your money, so no gain no pain.

Yep, the single VNT turbos on the 185hp D5's do suffer from lag at initial take off.

The sequential turbos on the 205hp D5's (09 onwards) all but eliminated it.
