I found the problem with the cross-tank syphon - when I reassembled the unit after cleaning out the water, I had crushed the feed pipe. First time round, I had to do the job myself, holding and lowering the pump whilst pulling the LHS unit across with the tether wire I had attached earlier. You can see where the pipe has crushed in these two shots. It is a rigid plastic pipe, and needed reshaping with a pair of grips. This time, I fed the LHS unit across with the natural curve of the hoses, and Mrs H pulled the tether. All looks well, I will know more when I get down to about 1/4 tank |

Delighted to report that after two tanks of fuel, the gauge has fallen from full to empty exactly as expected I still think the x-tank syphon is an unnecessary complexity, but who am I to argue. |
