D24t Info
I've just purchased a d24t engine from a 92 J reg 940 and need to know what the engine code is. Eurocar parts list a couple of different numbers, 1G, ACL or DV?
I've brought this engine to go in my VW van as they share the engine. Looking on here the engine produces 109bhp if i'm right?? but the VW forums only say it produces 92 or 95bhp depending on engine code. What make the 940 enine make more power or am i just wrong all together?! Thanks, Craig. |

The d24 engine has 95 hp the d24t 109 and the d24tic (intercooled) version 122.
Can't seem to find an engine code, it's got R12 on both head and block and the year of manufacture on both, but none of the codes mentioned. A search on the wiki gives a list of discontinued VAG diesel engines, but whereas all the others have two letter codes, the inline 6 cylinder does not have any. There were a couple of adjustments between pre and post 93 engines, one being the intercooler and another hydraulic tappets - so I think valve clearances will need to be checked on this engine every 15k IIRC. I'm not sure how important the codes are (should they exist); most of the things Eurocar parts want to sell you will be the same for all the engines above, this certainly applies to all maintenance items and gaskets, water pump, tensioner, HG, injectors, pump, plugs. And service manual. The D24T turbo differs in its' connections from the D24Tic one. jor Last edited by jor; Nov 16th, 2008 at 00:25. |
