Default Can't reset service light

Guys,

I'm trying to reset the service light (warning message) on my 2002 model (51 plate) V70. The instructions I have are:
1. Press and hold odometer reset button (presumably the left hand of the 2 in-dial buttons).
2. Turn ignition switch to Run.
3. After SRL flashes, release odometer reset button.
4. Confirm by turning your Volvo off, then on again.

It's not working!

Any tips please?

David

David,

the only variations that I have on what you're doing is..
1. Turn ignition to position I before pressing button (then turn ignition on)
2. Once service indicator starts to flash you must release the button within 5 seconds or the reset won't work.

Hope this helps.

David,

try this (instructions from a Volvo Publication)

Resetting the service reminder indicator (SRI), model years 2002-
The service reminder indicator (SRI) informs the driver that it is time for the car to be serviced. The text message is displayed for 120 s each time the ignition is switched on.
Proceed as follows to reset the service reminder indicator (SRI):
-Ignition position I
-Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer
-Ignition position II.
Note! Turn the key to position II within 2 seconds.
-Hold the reset button for the trip meter pressed in until the original value has been reset.
Note! For all vehicles from the 2003 model year a general yellow lamp will light when the reset button must be released.
-Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 4 seconds. The instrument gives an audible signal when resetting has succeeded
-If the trip meter is already reset the reset button should be held in for a minimum of 10 seconds and a maximum of 14 seconds.
Note! If the reset button for the trip odometer is not released within 4 seconds, the service reminder indicator (SRI) is not reset.

Cheers

Exclamation Reset Service message

This worked on my 2005 XC90 - service message came on after 3000miles !!

Turn ignition switch to position I.

Press and hold the “ trip button “ and turn ignition to position II.
Continue holding button " in " for about 10 seconds until warning Triangle
flashes.

After the Orange Warning Triangle flashes, release trip button.
Make sure that you release the trip reset button when the warning
symbol in the center of the instrument cluster is flashing

A "beep" to confirm command accepted should be heard.

Switch off ignition and test system – repeat if an error is made in
the above procedure.

Should work with most new models.

Most volvo's from 1996/97 onward you can reset by

ignition off
hold in the odometer reset button
ignition on to position 2
wait for the warning triangle to flash then let go of the button
turn ignition off and on and it should work
