Very portable - ours breaks down into 3 large bags.
Nope, I already have the roof box and several sets of Thule roof bars accumulated over the years. Nice idea though

Default Several Thule Roof bar Sets - It's all in the Feet

Talking of the several sets of Thule Roof bars I have, the latest ones have the lowest profile. It's mainly all in the Feet!

The image below shows the graduation in height and in real life it's quite stark:

Default Better Feet Comparison

This is a better comparison to see the height difference:

Default Seems to clear 2.1m

Well the car + Wingbars + roof-box seems to get under 2.1m using a wooden beam across a couple of uprights. Was under by approx 10mm. Still not convinced though, even though I measured twice.

Either I've measured wrong, the estimates are bad or the car suspension has sunk over the years from the Volvo stated dimensions of 1784mm in height. Any ideas?

Default Internal Thinking

I did find a useful website that you can filter on vehicle height:
https://www.parkopedia.de/parking/ga...g=202402200600

OK, so I gave up on calculating total heights as the maximum height of a couple of car parks where I was going were well below 2.1m (actually 1.8m and 1.9m) and I didn't fancy a walk with the car being far away from the Hotel whoch could cater for +2.1m.

So instead I took the main luggage out at the Hotel I actually wanted to stay at and then took the roofbox contents out and put them in the boot. Then I took the roofbox off and slid it into the car itself. Luckily it was not raining and the roofbox was clean (enough). All worked really well.

The underground car-park was 1.8m max; due to the roller door, which is often the case.

Below are images of a 'test' I did before travelling:
