Default Aircon psi?

Can anyone help?

I was having a problem with my aircon causing the engine to overrev sporadically. I figured that the pump was hunting for fluid so bought a can of fluid and a gauge.
When I checked the pressure on the low side, the guide with the gauge said it should be max of 50psi. In my system was 95psi.

Dropping the pressure solved the overreving but now my aircon is cool at best.

Does anyone know what the correct psi should be?

Pressure varies a lot with temperature, there is no correct psi at rest and pressure wont give you any indication of the volume of gas in the system.

I would get the system emptied and refilled with the correct volume of gas .

you have to be qualified and certified/registered to work on any AC System now.
Do you realise you are working illegally on an automotive AC system ? liable to a £40,000 fine if you let any gas escape? you probably wore no safety gear either. This has been in place since 2010 . The important thing is the VOLUME of gas in the system and you now probably have too much in there which could damage the compressor.

The idle speed control is not down to the ac system . The idle speed should compensate seamlessly when the compressor starts up and shuts off.
