Now that would be an acceptable solution.

... like this:

... that is much safer: properly wired into the busbar and with a removable fuse. If I ever want to energise the 15S 7 pin socket I can just insert a fuse.

I've ordered a couple of trailer sockets (15N and 15S - they were only £2.50 each) and will reinstate both to keep the original look (as Dave suggested somewhere above).

Order a couple of those rubbery Johnnies that fit tightly on them, they really do keep the crap out!👍

On biodegradable wiring ,the topic is mentioned all over the net Volvo in 80s Mercedes in the 90s.
But it doesn't end there. Many companies have recently used a soy product as a plastic replacement . This is degrading and also a staple diet of many rodents, resulting in eaten through looms and causing fires, burnt out ecu's and many dangerous situations involving brake by wire systems.
I'm all for saving the planet ,but surely making something last, saves on production and the associated costs ,both economical and environmental.
My car runs on recycled dinosaurs, so I'm doing my bit !!

Default Op BARGE - a few more baby steps...

Some brake pads for the rear showed up today, so I fitted them this afternoon, we'll see of that squeak goes away as a result.

The silicone arrived also, so I've put a little behind the windscreen surround at the top, I think that has probably solved the problem.

:-)

I just had to pop out Aldishoppin - and I'm pleased to report the mouse living in the rear brakes has been banished. Maybe it was the new pads, or perhaps just the copper grease behind them.

:-)

Default Outside Air Temperature sender

As, for my sins, I've been in "God's own county" this week I'm just catching up on this thread.

You SHOULD find the sender under the front bumper, probably on the pasenger side; I'll try to dig out SFSS's gauge pack and photograph the sender unit.

As for the use of mono-colour wire, I was a member of a model railway club where ALL of the wiring was black; someone gave our tame electrician ("wiring specialist") a roll of orange wire and confused a small Norwegian town out of him!

Many thanks Loki - it would be really helpful to know what I was looking for.

Is this the ambient temperature sensor sender? The attached may be helpful.

Excellent Lucien,

I should be able to find and check it from those.

I'm not generally up at 02:15, but Bob was scared of the thunderstorm - he isn't a very brave dog.

Default Outsied temperature sender

As promised, photographs of the sender. The yellow cable is the lead to the sender and the red sleeve has its part number (130830).
