Changing paint colour
Now I've (finally) stripped my new donor rear doors of all their bits, the next step is to get them painted so they match the rest of the car (they are cream at present). I'm going to get a body shop to do this, as my car is an unknown shade of red (probably not Volvo) and my previous attempts haven't been terrifically successful anyway.
I have heard that modern paints may not adhere properly to older paints. Has anybody got any experience of this with Amazons? Is it worth taking them to get blasted back to bare metal (or even dipped) before I get them painted, or will just a light rub down do the trick? Thanks, David |

Your body shop will advise but you will probably need an epoxy primer sealer as a starter to stabilise the mix of old paint and areas that have been rubbed down or repaired and primed. It will give the proverbial level playing field and allow the final coats to be an even colour with no shading.
Yes the Barcoat stuff would be ideal. Last edited by Derek UK; Feb 19th, 2016 at 22:38. Reason: reference |

You might want to use some Barcoat isolator, it's fantastic.
