Had to do the same in my s90 last year, decided to stay the same, also the Volvo branded ones. So shop around, the prices vary hugely.
I might go for pilot sport 5 next time. Like you not many miles these days, so a few years to come, I hope.

I recently replaced mine with Avons. I've used them for years and they seem to be a good mid range tyre.

For the past ten years or more all of our family cars have been on Avons (ZV7 most recently) referred to as a mid range tyre but they seem to perform better than their price point.
There's several factors to what makes a best tyre, most important probably the performance, but what level of performance do you truly need?, next would be price, bearing in mind that to a large extent this balancesoff against performance. And in my case what does my local trusted independent stock? they stopped doing Avons a while ago so for the wife's car recently I ended up going for Michelin Cross Climates to keep her safe and the car performing as well or better than it had been on the original Continentals, two tyres for her SUV Hatchback cost as much as four for the V70 though.

There are no 'best' tyres, just tyres that suit.

At 3mm left and only 6000 miles a year you shouldn’t have to think about this for a while but I’d guess Primacy’s will suit. The Tyre Reviews YouTube channel would be a good place to research

If you fancy an experiment in changing all four tyres, this is a bargain curveball for you:-
Debica Presto UHP2 made by Goodyear. Never heard of them - me neither at first !? I fitted four to my (heavy) diesel hybrid V60 which has a crunchy ride on bad surfaces, after looking at hundreds of reviews for softer sidewall tyres. I actually went from 17 inch Cross Climates to 18 inch wheels with the Debicas, and after 2months and 3000m, the ride is genuinely better than before. Don't be put off by the bargain price - I always buy premium tyres, but these have good official ratings, and drive very well - not just for the money. If you are only doing 6000m a year you've not much to lose... |

I disagree while agreeing ...
I think there is a best tyre, but I also think it's impossible to find what it is unless you're dripping with cash & time, and can buy 10 sets of tyres & take YOUR car to a proving-ground & compare them all. Then keep the ones that do best. By the time you need a new set you can't buy the same, of course, as a bunch of models available previously have changed rubber or factory, and a bunch of new models have been released. |
