Ha ha made that mistake once already, blowing the estate budget on a gorgeous saloon. Don't regret one bit, but still need that estate...

2.0 auto saloon '89, but RIGHT PRICE.

Long time since we've seen cars priced to sell.
What a very nice motor car at a sensible price, It won't be tax free until 2027, so that is an additional £1,500 on the cost of ownership, but that looks like a good car. It is very like the Barge (which is lovely).

I'm with Dave - get yourself on a £50 flight this evening, stay in a local B&B for £40 and drive it back tomorrow. Start writing up your ownership thread when you get home.

Go for it - you know you want to.

Alan

Oh, when I depart the big smoke for some more rural abode I'll have Volvos front and back, unfortunately an estate is a prerequisite for that departure, so desirable saloons will just have to wait. Can't store 'em outside here and get classic insurance either, worst postcode in the country for car theft.

And it's sold, under 24hrs from first listing.
The good ones don't hang around, blink and you miss them...

Back to scouring through the legion of overpriced dross choking the life out of the market, aka the classifieds...

OK, this is what I'm after: 89 estate, Liverpool-ish £2650
https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/volvo/240/334042
...except the MOT history tells a sorry tale of many motorway miles stuck behind a gritter, or perhaps a previous owner was a salt merchant?
I'd want to see a lot of welding photos before I considered that one...

All the fun up North today.
245 '80 one owner low miles "driveway find" - so no bull**** about barns.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175411408269
£650 start.

The bit of the bonnet still attached to the slam panel probably says all you need to know...
